Pulmonologist coaching a patient through a cardiopulmonary exercise test on a stationary bike

An exercise breathing stress test measures your breathing, oxygen use and heart response while you pedal a stationary bike at increasing effort, with a physician watching the results in real time. It can explain breathlessness or low stamina that resting tests miss.

When it helps

When shortness of breath or poor stamina only shows up during activity, resting tests can look normal. Testing under exertion shows whether the limit is coming from the lungs, the heart, or conditioning.

Six-minute walk testing

Medimprove also performs six-minute walk testing, a simpler measure of how far you can walk in six minutes and how your oxygen level responds along the way.
