Lung function testing

Pulmonary function testing

Complete lung function testing, on-site.

Pulmonary function testing to measure how well your lungs take in and release air.

Respiratory therapist guiding a patient through a lung function test in a body box

Medimprove performs complete pulmonary function testing on-site — spirometry, lung volumes, DLCO, FeNO, and bronchodilator and methacholine challenge testing — so most patients complete every test they need in a single visit.

Why more than spirometry

Basic spirometry alone can read as normal in someone who is genuinely breathless, because it measures how fast air moves rather than how well oxygen crosses into the blood. The wider panel is what finds the causes a single test misses.

The tests

  • Spirometry — how much air you can breathe out, and how quickly.

  • Lung volumes — the total amount of air your lungs hold, measured in a body box.

  • DLCO — how well oxygen passes from the lungs into the blood.

  • FeNO — a breath measure of airway inflammation, useful in asthma.

  • Bronchodilator response — whether breathing improves after an inhaler.

  • Methacholine challenge — tests airway sensitivity when asthma is suspected but spirometry is normal.
